Individual examples of Trevor Harvey's humorous poems for children are included in around 200 published anthologies and classroom textbooks (Macmillan, HarperCollins, A&C Black. Meadowbrook, Scholastic, Oxford, Puffin etc.)
His best known poem, The Painting Lesson, has appeared in over 30 publications, including Michael Rosen's A-Z of Children's Poetry (Puffin), Read Me and Laugh (Macmillan) and 100 Best Poems for Children, edited by Roger McGough (Puffin).
Other poems include The Dragon's Lament (On The Eve Of St George's Day), Rhythm Machine, Cat Next Door, The Sleuth, Favouritism and The Tale Of The Dog . He has also written a paperback children's story - Operation Pedal Paw (o/p).
His first published work, the lyric for Jonah and the Whale - a six-minute piece for junior school choirs and audience participation, composed by Anthony Foster (Oxford University Press, 1974; o/p) still gets an occasional performance - see below, a performance at Lisbon University in 2011.
